Fantasy Notes: Andy Comes in Handy

Pettitte has really picked things up this month: 2-1, 2.66 with just 16 hits, one homer and four walks allowed in 20 1/3 IP. But how about those 24 Ks? Very sweet rate for the southpaw. Pettitte leads the NL in losses but ranks in the top 10 in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. In the very, very slim chance he’s available in your mixed league, terminate him off the waiver wire with extreme prejudice.

RotoWidow: Is There a Place for Loyalty in Fantasy?

The trade would definitely help his team win, but RotoRob had picked Jones right from the get-go, back in the day when he first formed his Fantasy team. Fantasy Notes: Cairo Not the Answer

Adam Eaton has finally pitched his first game for the Rangers after being out all season because of a finger issue. The start was a disaster: three runs, four walks and two hit batsmen in just 3 2/3 IP. But come on. He hadn’t pitched a real game since last year. Eaton gave up only one hit and fanned four, so there was plenty to get excited about. Give him a look. Eaton is probably gone by now in your AL-only league, but he could be an asset in a deeper mixed league, so check your waiver wires and expect a nice return down the stretch.

Fantasy Notes: Glendon Rusch to the Rescue

Talk about help from a surprise source. Rusch had been shelled for 18 earned runs in 15 IP over his last five appearances before Sunday’s four-hit, two-run, two-walk, five-strikeout start. With the Cubs’ rotation in shambles, Rusch could have bought himself another couple of starts with this win. But we’ll have to see a lot more before suggesting he’s worth a waiver wire claim.
