This team is good, improving, but best of all, young. Youth has definitely been served in Arizona, and the message is loud and clear: this club is not only a contender this year, but is building a machine that should be capable of winning for years to come.

Afflicted with a strained oblique, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 5, making him eligible to be activated later this week. Prior is starting to believe what countless Cubs fans already do: “The goat is starting to look real.” At any rate, Prior was scheduled to throw a bullpen session today to determine if he’ll go Thursday or wait until the weekend to make his next start… assuming the goat allows it.

He looked superb a few starts ago against the Angels in a game I caught on the tube, but it looks like the rest of the league has been catching up to him lately. Let’s see what happens Friday.
