Big News for RotoRob

August 31, 2006 | by RotoRob | Comments Comments Off on Big News for RotoRob

A couple of weeks ago, our attentive readers will recall, we revealed that RotoRob started baseball work for Rotoworld.com.

Well, things have gone very well in this gig, and it’s now expanding.

Starting Monday, we will be writing American League news every morning, Monday to Friday, followed each day by the Daily Dose, Rotoworld’s baseball news roundup column. On Saturdays, we will be writing both AL and NL news for the site.

It’s an exciting development that will keep RotoRob pretty darned busy between now and the end of the baseball season. But have no fear — we will continue to provide daily coverage here at RotoRob.com, supplemented as always by Andy Goldstein’s fantastic football work, Mike Chen’s heavenly hockey reports and updates from the lovely RotoWidow.

While we’re bringing readers up to speed on our latest updates, now’s a good time to mention that we’ll soon be shifting publishing platforms, and the new version — RotoRob 2 — promises to be far more robust. It will include separate sections for all four sports, so those of you just interested in a specific sport, will be able to bookmark that page, but still seamlessly shift between sports.

The new platform will also allow us to categorize all our posts, so the user experience will be vastly upgraded.

Having just passed the two-month mark for the site on Monday, things are progressing very quickly here at RotoRob.com. Stick around and enjoy the ride, as the best is yet to come.

We’re continually striving to create a site that meets the needs of the fantasy sports fanatic. How are we doing so far? Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions below.

RotoWidow: Is There a Place for Loyalty in Fantasy?

August 6, 2006 | by RotoWidow | Comments Comments Off on RotoWidow: Is There a Place for Loyalty in Fantasy?
The trade would definitely help his team win, but RotoRob had picked Jones right from the get-go, back in the day when he first formed his Fantasy team. There was some pride in that and loyalty to a player that — while the “manager” will never actually manage or even meet him — had provided nothing but season after season of payoffs in the pool.

A Look Ahead: Buehrle Purely for Bench

August 6, 2006 | by RotoRob | Comments (0)
So we’ll need to see more to believe he’s out of his slump. Apparently, the problems have resulted because he’s been tipping his pitches. We wouldn’t want to risk it against a hungry Yankee squad and showing-no-signs-of-cracking Detroit team this week. That’s a tall order for Buehrle even if he were on his game, which he clearly hasn’t been in the last month (0-5, 11.48 in July).

Fantasy Notes: Cairo Not the Answer

July 27, 2006 | by RotoRob | Comments (2)
Adam Eaton has finally pitched his first game for the Rangers after being out all season because of a finger issue. The start was a disaster: three runs, four walks and two hit batsmen in just 3 2/3 IP. But come on. He hadn’t pitched a real game since last year. Eaton gave up only one hit and fanned four, so there was plenty to get excited about. Give him a look. Eaton is probably gone by now in your AL-only league, but he could be an asset in a deeper mixed league, so check your waiver wires and expect a nice return down the stretch.
