There are a lot of cool perks inherent with being a reviewer of video games — in fact, I’d conservatively estimate the pro-con ratio to be somewhere in the 50-to-1 range. That said; one of those drawbacks is pushing through some major difficulty spikes in order to finish a game on a deadline when you’d rather step away and regroup. The result: controller tossing.

MLB Today: Daniel Murphy Working on D

Will he immediately reassume his role as the team’s ace? That’s hard to say, because pitchers recovering from Tommy John surgery generally take 12-to-18 months to fully bounce back, so while Wainwright is on schedule to return this spring, how long will it take him to completely recover his velocity, command and feel of his pitches? That remains an unknown, but it’s obvious the Cardinals are bullish on a full and speedy recover, picking up both his 2012 and 2013 options right after the World Series.

Now, there are times when the NHL All-Star Break is a very good thing. Some players respond well after a little rest and relaxation from game action. Imagine the stretch run as a chance to bolster playoff position or try to make the dance. Players and Fantasy hockey general managers generally think the same way in this regard. Week 17 is up ahead in most Fantasy leagues and if you are not ready, chances for success will pass you by.

The Wire Troll: Jerryd Bayless Starting Again For Raptors

Bayless has started three of the past four games at the two, and had scored at least 14 points per game in four straight before sinking just 1-of-6 for three points on Friday. Still, the minutes were there (28), and I expect the production to follow. He’s been jacking up more treys this season and draining them at an impressive 40 per cent rate, so if Bayless maintains this starting role and keeps getting 25+ MPG, he’s going to help you.

The 2012 Fantasy Baseball Guide

The big change for 2012 is that the magazine is no longer driven to be the first to the stands. We decided this year to shift final production forward by several weeks, allowing more time to report on and analyze offseason player movement.
