He hit .340 with an OPS of 1010 in June, mashed to the tune of a .411 BA in July with six steals and a slugging percentage of .752, which is an MLB season high for any month this year. Oh, and after smacking another pair of hits Friday – including a double – and adding his career-best 23rd steal of the season – he’s now hitting a robust .325 so far in August.

Video Game Review: Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

With little variation, you and your squad mates have two objectives: 1. find the Ravagers (the general term used for the combined insect/alien armada); and 2. kill the Ravagers. A few boss fights will be sprinkled in throughout the 15-mission campaign, but there’s nothing realistic or tactical about any of the game’s combat. This is a title where you basically shut off your brain and just revel in the act of eliminating wave after wave of massive insects.

MLB Today: Adam Jones’ Quiet Breakout

Okay, Jones has been ice cold lately (0-for-12 in the last three, but at least he delivered his 70th RBI Tuesday), however, he’s coming off a fine July (.320, five homers) which followed an impressive June (seven homers) and a pretty sweet May (.343, 15 RBI). It all adds up to top 15 value at his position as the just turned 26-year-old is beginning to scratch the surface of the uber talent we’ve all believed he has. And thanks to Baltimore’s woeful play, Jones’ fine season has pretty much been lost in the shuffle.
