The rookie actually went 7 2/3 IP before he gave up a hit to the Indians as KC’s 2018 first rounder out of Florida gave us an indication of just how good he can be. Singer dodged some bullets in this one, but was generally fantastic. His ERA had ballooned over 5.50 with some rough outings over the last month, but this effort takes him down to a more serviceable 4.66 mark, and — ideally — positions him for a strong finish. The righty was a non-roster invitee this spring, but to its credit Kansas City has given its young pitchers a legitimate shot this season, and he’s generally rewarded the team’s confidence. Having just turned 24 last month, Singer’s best offering is his heater, but he also sports a solid slider and changeup in his arsenal. If he hadn’t struggled early in his junior season, he could have easily gone No. 1 overall two years ago.

Okay, Cody wasn’t exactly mistake free in his first MLB start on Friday (his walk and errant pick off throw led to a run), yet he wound up giving up just one hit and an unearned run over three frames and still has a perfect ERA with a sweet 0.95 WHIP through four appearances. Cody’s wildness will likely haunt him, but he’s pitched around it so far — not bad for a dude that missed most of the last two seasons because of elbow woes and one that had never before pitched above High-A.

Misiewicz is another hurler that has escaped Fantasy owners’ attention so far, but this southpaw rookie has been downright nasty against left-handed hitters (.429 OPS against). He’s proved versatile, pitching very short outings and often going multiple innings, while throwing on a seemingly daily basis. Misiewicz intrigues us with his strikeouts and holds, and if he can induce groundballs as a similar rate to what he did in the minors, he could be a very useful AL-only league asset.
