Like all Fantasy experts, I have a long-standing home league that is essentially my baby. We drafted Tuesday evening, and going that late before the season starts rules — it is definitely preferred over drafting early.

In fact, the only times you’re required to use the touch screen is for brutal melee kills, when you trace directional arrows, pulling down levers and hacking terminals. Some of the VAN-guard abilities also necessitate the use of the touch screen, such as a shoulder-mounted missile launcher that fires when you tap targeting circles on enemies. Whatever your feelings on touch controls, everything here feels very natural, and the user interface is among the best I’ve seen.

For September callups, playing time always has to be a concern but some of these kids aren’t simply getting the call as a reward for a great season down on the farm. Teams that are out of the playoff hunt will be using September as an opportunity to get a jump on 2014 and the contenders will be looking to rest some of their regulars heading into the playoffs. Picking and choosing which of these prospects can return value is always a bit of a challenge, but rest assured, some of these September callups will be valued contributors to our game.
