The Wire Troll: Adam Duvall Lays Claim to Left Field in Cincy

Smith (forearm) looked good enough pitching in an extended Spring Training game last week that he’s now headed to Triple-A and will make his first appearance there on Tuesday. He should be back with the BoSox in early May, so if you need a reliever capable of accumulating some very sweet numbers, give him a look. Yes, Boston’s bullpen is a busy place, but relievers capable of approaching 100 strikeouts don’t grow on trees.

The Wire Troll: Jeanmar Gomez Grabs Closer Gig in Philly

This year, the veteran is back — in a big way. Mauer’s hit safely in seven straight games, jacking his average up to .359 in the process. He’s drawing walks and scoring runs (and will likely score more when the Twins start hitting as a team like they’re capable of). Mauer’s even playing well defensively at first, so go ahead and consider him if you need a boost in BA.

2016 RotoRob Top 75 MLB Prospects, Part II

Bundy slipped dramatically in this year’s rankings as 2015 was yet another season in which he barely pitched — and didn’t even win a single game. He earned a job as a reliever with the Orioles out of spring this season, but has barely pitched early on. Bundy is young enough to still have a great career, but as an injury prone, seldom-used reliever, it’s small wonder he plummeted in our rankings.

Ortiz is the fifth and final (or first, considering we’re counting down) Ranger on our Top 75 and the team’s top pick (30th overall) in 2014. He looked phenomenal at Class-A last year, but elbow woes limited him to 50 innings. Ortiz has been bumped up to High-A this season and pitched out of relief in his first outing. He’s expected to be a part of the starting rotation, which is good news for his future Fantasy value as he could top out as a No. 2 starter in time. Ortiz’s arsenal includes a low-90s heater, a nice looking slider and a changeup that needs refinement.

Video Game Review: RBI Baseball ’16

For what should be a fun, enjoyable game that you can jump right into, RBI’s controls have an awfully steep learning curve. Looks can be deceiving. Balls don’t end up where you think they will, nor do players react how you think they should. You can’t remap the controls, which is disappointing, because that might provide some shortcuts that would help you enjoy the game more.

The Wire Troll: Jose Iglesias Comes Out Raking

Every year it seems the Dodgers find these hurlers that no one has ever heard of, and they wind up providing surprising value at times. Stripling is the latest example, tossing 7 1/3 hitless frames in his big league debut on Friday. The Dodgers’ fifth round pick from 2012 has shown tremendous command in his minor league career, although — ironically — it was spotty in his otherwise sterling big league outing. Having tossed 100 pitches, Stripling was yanked from what could have been a historic debut. He’s just as likely to be throttled in his next outing, so don’t overpay for him, but if you need pitching help, he’s worth grabbing to see how this plays out.
