Ortiz is the fifth and final (or first, considering we’re counting down) Ranger on our Top 75 and the team’s top pick (30th overall) in 2014. He looked phenomenal at Class-A last year, but elbow woes limited him to 50 innings. Ortiz has been bumped up to High-A this season and pitched out of relief in his first outing. He’s expected to be a part of the starting rotation, which is good news for his future Fantasy value as he could top out as a No. 2 starter in time. Ortiz’s arsenal includes a low-90s heater, a nice looking slider and a changeup that needs refinement.

Video Game Review: RBI Baseball ’16

For what should be a fun, enjoyable game that you can jump right into, RBI’s controls have an awfully steep learning curve. Looks can be deceiving. Balls don’t end up where you think they will, nor do players react how you think they should. You can’t remap the controls, which is disappointing, because that might provide some shortcuts that would help you enjoy the game more.

The Wire Troll: Jose Iglesias Comes Out Raking

Every year it seems the Dodgers find these hurlers that no one has ever heard of, and they wind up providing surprising value at times. Stripling is the latest example, tossing 7 1/3 hitless frames in his big league debut on Friday. The Dodgers’ fifth round pick from 2012 has shown tremendous command in his minor league career, although — ironically — it was spotty in his otherwise sterling big league outing. Having tossed 100 pitches, Stripling was yanked from what could have been a historic debut. He’s just as likely to be throttled in his next outing, so don’t overpay for him, but if you need pitching help, he’s worth grabbing to see how this plays out.

Book Review: The Anatomy of Competition in Sports

The dynamics of competition are vast, perhaps limitless, and are relevant to virtually any endeavour. What this book points to as the primary difference between sports and, say, being an accountant, is how much and perhaps more importantly how long the professional athlete must invest into their respective sport. We know many people in many professions that are extremely competitive, but we have yet to meet a doctor or a lawyer that started training for their profession when they were six.

2016 RotoRob MLB Draft Kit: Catcher Rankings

The fifth overall pick from 2008 has established himself as the king at catcher for several years now. Because of his ability to also play first base, he remains in the lineup nearly every day, last season reaching 150 games for the first time in his career. Posey is extremely productive, and while he has next to no speed, he’s a dangerous hitter that is often pitched around (career high 10 intention passes last year). His slugging dipped a tad last year, but his BABIP was right around career norms, so you can expect another high average season in 2016. Posey is also listed in our First Base Rankings, coming shortly.
