The Wire Troll: Steve Pearce Returns to Spark the Rays

Bour is finally beginning to regain his 2015 power stroke (when he bashed 23 dingers). In May, he has already gone yard five times and cut his strikeout rate in half from the first month. Bour is seeing the ball much better, as evidenced by his ridiculous 46.3 Hard hit percentage over the past three weeks, and this could be heading to a power surge into June. Get him before he’s gone for good, but have a backup plan for when the Marlins face southpaws. Bour owns just two hits against lefties this season.

Another newcomer this year, Snell thrust his way into the Fantasy consciousness after last year he went undefeated at High-A, proved unhittable at Double-A and then put together an even better WHIP at Triple-A. All told, he won a whopping 15 games last season and while he’s been a bit more wild at Triple-A to start this year, it didn’t stop the Rays from giving him a spot start — in which the southpaw was splendid. Snell, considered by some as a top 15 prospect, has clearly established himself as a star in the making.

The Wire Troll: Can Mark Reynolds Stick at First Base in Colorado?

This dispersion really helps drive his all-around Fantasy contribution, which is evident by his almost even total of runs and RBI (11 and 10, respectively). So if you are in need of infield help, or could use a boost to your team’s BA with modest help in the other categories, Prado is your man. The lack of homers so far this season may scare off Fantasy owners, but the way we look at it is this: Prado has never hit less than nine dingers in a full season. Be patient, and all that solid contact will eventually translate into a few trots around the bases.

The Wire Troll: Miguel Montero on the Comeback Trail

Smoak has really grabbed hold of this opportunity, and is heating up as of late. Over his last five games, the switch hitter is batting .389 with two homers and a .500 OBP. Smoak is a much better hitter against RHP, which is a good fit for the Blue Jays and their right handed-heavy lineup. As long as he continues to see steady playing time hitting out of the six spot in that filthy lineup, he can be a cheap source of power and RBI.

The Wire Troll: Steven Wright is No Laughing Matter

Santana came back from a hamstring woe last week and has reached base in all five games he’s played since. It’s early, but he’s hitting much better than last year, although we’re still waiting for his extra-base sock to return to what he did as a rookie. Speed, decent power and a fine BA is the upside here, so we strongly suggest you consider Santana for your AL-only team.

Another newcomer to the list this year, Frazier was Cleveland’s top pick in 2013 and after improving his contact rates and flashing more speed than ever at High-A last year, he’s landed firmly on the prospect list. He has power, speed, can hit for a pretty high average and will even bunt his way on at times. Frazier has made the jump to Double-A this year and while the Georgia high school product isn’t walking as much, the rest of his numbers have remained solid — a very promising sign, indeed.

After putting up a spectacular record between Double-A and Triple-A (with a combined sub-3.00 ERA) and again staying healthy, Blair has surged into our Top 50. This big dude has the look of a future workhorse all over him, and with his fine fastball and curveball, he’s major league ready now. Blair was looking great at Triple-A (especially since his strikeout rate bounced back), so it was no surprise he was the first starter recalled when the Braves needed help.
