You are one of the many Fantasy players that got hurt badly by Boston’s West Coast follies this week. Losing Pedroia is going to hurt so I’d keep my eyes open for a 2B type, but would imagine it is probably very thin on the waiver wire at that slot. For the most part, I like your team. You have a good balance of speed and power on offense, but I do agree that your pitching could use a few tweaks.

Well, he’s still enjoying his finest season in years, but after getting roughed up by the Dodgers this week, a distinct trend has emerged. Pettitte went 3-0, 2.12 in April, 4-1, 2.87 in May and 2-1, 3.18 in June. Certainly there’s no immediate reason for his owners to panic – I mean, the dude has 11 quality starts in 15 tries — but it’s a situation worth noting for those thinking of selling high on the veteran hurler. You might want to wait until after Pettitte’s next start Saturday in Toronto. While the Jays have had a solid offense this year – especially at home, they are the coldest hitting team in the AL over the last week and rank dead last in OPS against lefties this season.

Surprise, surprise. The Royals are scuffling through another tough season, and a recent five-game losing streak combined with a surge by the White Sox has left Kansas City in fourth place in the AL Central, looking way up at the top three. If not for Cleveland’s complete ineptitude and KC winning three of its past four, the Royals could easily be sitting in the division cellar once again. But hey, let’s not sell them short…there’s still plenty of time left for the Royals to sink below the Indians considering their current four-game bulge over the Tribe is hardly insurmountable.

Yes, the same player that the Mariners didn’t offer more than a one year deal to last fall is now back in the fold. What’s up in Seattle? The Mariners had Branyan, let him go to the Tribe in the offseason and have now got him back when they’re 14 games out? Either $5 million doesn’t buy a whole lot at first base or the Mariners have a few more problems than I have the time to discuss right now.

My thoughts on this deal are very simple and straightforward. Find your way to the accept button and click it right smartly. The key for me is in the hitting department. Rolen has certainly been huge, but are his numbers sustainable over the second half? I think we’ll see some regression while at the same time Longoria will pick up the pace. Jimenez has been incredible so far, but if you take a quick look at Weaver’s numbers they are certainly nothing to sneeze at and I believe the odds are good that moving forward there will be very little to pick and choose between the two.

Having said that, after a simply pathetic May, Rodriguez looked to be smarting up with quality outings in his first two June starts. Then, he tossed another pair of serious stinkers before his solid start Thursday. The fact that it came against an offense like San Francisco’s, that’s been middling at best, doesn’t exactly swell me with confidence that Rodriguez is out of the woods. I mean, come on. His walks are way up, his strikeouts are way down and his hit rate has soared. There’s just not much to hang your hat on as far as being a hopeful Rodriguez owner goes. The fact that he’s generally been a worse second half pitcher paints an even grimmer picture.
