Blu-ray Review: Magic Mike XXL

Without question, Magic Mike XXL is a much more enjoyable film than the original. Pretty much all of the dramatic elements have been moved to the side to allow the cast to have fun at every turn. Tatum once again proves he’s an excellent comedic actor and all-around likable dude. It may not be at the level of 21 Jump Street in terms of laughs, but unless you’re determined not to crack a smile because of all the beefcake it’s pretty humorous.

NHL Free Agency Recap: Goalies

We always thought of Enroth as the Sabres’ goalie of the future and believed he had the potential to be a starter in the NHL. Considering how cheap the Kings signed him for, we think they were able to sign a solid backup for a very team-friendly price. However, we don’t like this deal from Enroth’s perspective for reasons we will get into below.

Video Game Review: Skylanders Superchargers

One of the consistently enjoyable things about the Skylanders series is the world itself. Characters have a silly charm and locations are suitably varied. It creates a very adventurous feel as you dash around the Skylands to thwart yet another scheme from Kaos. The race tracks aren’t as interesting as the on-foot segments, though, and with them making up a significant chunk of the action it does make things feel a little more homogeneous as you advance.

NHL Free Agency Recap: Forwards

Going into free agency, we thought Beleskey’s contract was going to be atrocious. There were reports that he was asking for seven years and he turned down a four-year, $16 million contract offer from the Ducks. However, we were quite surprised at how low the cap hit was when it was announced that Boston had signed him. We think the term was one year too long, but overall, it’s a decent contract. If Boston still has any hopes of making the playoffs, which it said it does, it needed a top nine forward.

Video Game Review: God of War III Remastered

God of War III picks up right where God of War II left off, which makes the package itself a bit of an odd choice by really limiting the target audience. After all, why would someone that didn’t play the first two entries jump in at this point? And if they did, they’re bound to be confused — the game doesn’t even bother to include a summary of events leading up to the opening scene when Kratos and the Titans are scaling Mount Olympus.

Blu-ray Review: Entourage: The Movie

The scene-stealing Piven was the best thing about the Entourage series, and not surprisingly he’s also the best thing about the film. He slips right back into the role of Gold, once again deftly blending manic intensity with sharp comebacks. While he’s probably too abrasive to carry his own show, Ari is employed in just the right doses here with plenty of vintage lines.
