While Ryan didn’t get an interview, you’d have to think if he was legitimately interested in returning to a GM post, the Mets would have wanted to talk to him. Having said that, based on reactions on the Mets’ page on Facebook, the team’s fans are quite stoked about having Alderson as the man charged to turn things around.

He’s a bit of an enigma, as in each of the last two seasons, he’s seen an increase in ice time, yet his stats have slipped. What up with that? At least he had another minor penalty Saturday, running his season total to eight PMs after managing just 18 last season. Ward’s getting enough ice time to be useful, but at this point, we’d suggest waiting for him to string together some decent efforts before even considering him as a Fantasy option.

Speaking of four, that’s the same number of consecutive games that Cutler has struggled. If he hadn’t had those big first two weeks, his numbers would be even worse than last year. But what’s really scary for Cutler owners is that he endured one of his lamest games of the season against the NFL’s worst pass defense in Washington. To make matters worse, Cutler also fumbled on first and goal from the one yard line. D’oh! And next week, he has to travel to Buffalo to face the Bills, owners of one of the best pass defenses in the league. As if going to Buffalo for any reason isn’t bad enough, imagine having to head there knowing you’re going to struggle to generate an air attack? Cutler is winding up on some waiver wires in shallow leagues, and it’s a trend that may gain more steam after Week Eight.

The ten-year contract he signed way back in February 2001 expires at the end of the World Series, making Jeter a free agent. Though it’s widely assumed the Yankees will re-sign their captain, the overrated shortstop still faces the prospect of having to negotiate a new deal with the only team he’s ever been employed by.

Considering he missed a third of the season, and that he mostly hit out of the five or six hole, the 60 runs he scored this season is a very impressive total. And no one will quibble with that robust 950 OPS. A flyball hitter, Cruz likely would have matched his home run total from 2009 had he not gotten hurt. And once he returned in September, he really was on cruise control, batting .327 with six homers, 14 RBI and 21 runs for the month.

Lee went 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA and .189 BAA in September, striking out 24 and walking just six in four starts and 28 IP. And he’s taken that to a new level since the playoffs have begun.

Wilson only managed four receptions all of last year, so by his standards, he’s having a banner year. I’m going to wait to see a bit more before I put him on my watch list. Let me get back to you on that…maybe around Ground Hog Day.
