But the turnaround this season has been mindblowing as the D-Backs did the rare worst to first swing in the NL West, taking home the division crown with relative ease over last year’s World Series Champion San Francisco Giants. After back-to-back 90-loss seasons, the comeback kids won 94 games and wrapped up the NL West a couple of weeks ago — their first division title since 2007. And they just missed out on gaining home field advantage in the opening round.

It was an unbelievable showing for a dude that had only topped 30 goals once before. Perry’s shot total was up last season, but not dramatically so… he just scored way more often. It’s reasonable to assume some regression this season and the early returns in preseason aren’t promising (-4 with one point in three games). Obviously, exhibition results generally are meaningless, but asking Perry to again score 50 might be pushing it.

Video Game Review: Castlevania: Harmony Of Despair (PS3)

What you make of that, though, depends on the character you use, as each one has his or her own special quirks that make use of the environment, enemies, button taps, or all of the above. The good thing is that Konami has made the timing and crispness consistent across all characters. Of course, the levels are punishing, with plenty of enemies throwing arcing projectiles which force you into spewing fire which force you into spikes — you should have dodged left instead of right!

Video Game Review: Driver: San Francisco

In terms of button mapping, there is little to complain about here with accelerating/braking assigned to the triggers and a boost initiated by pushing up on the left analog stick — you can also engage the emergency brake for quick turns and drifting by hitting “B.” Executing the basics feels a bit loose, though, and it seemed too easy for my car to skid out of control (and even harder to get it back under control) when travelling at higher speeds.
