2010 AFL Review

It’s time to check in with some random observations from Arizona. Yes, the weather was awesome — if you can call daily temperatures in the mid-80s without a cloud in the sky awesome — but really after we get through the depression of being forced to endure such challenging weather conditions, there was some baseball to be watched. I managed to attend five games during the week before finally heading off to Sin City for some rest and relaxation (is that an oxymoron?).

Video Game Review: NBA Jam

Where the new version branches out is with the Remix Tour. Here each NBA team presents a series of three challenges (bronze, silver and gold) that need to be completed to earn points, which are then used to unlock other divisions. It is within this tour that the new game modes are introduced. For example, one addition called Domination has teams trying to acquire and then protect spots on the court as each spot you own allows you rack up points. Another pits three-to-four players against each other in a free-for-all where the lowest score is eliminated every two minutes.

The Wire Troll: Howdy (Again), Mr. Douglas

Though he has been an underachiever throughout his pro career, Davis is really asserting himself in 2010-11, averaging 13.7 points and 4.7 boards through his first six games. For now, he is best deployed in deeper leagues, but should (by which we mean “when”) one of the Celtics’ fragile frontcourtmen suffers an injury, the big kid could blow up in a big way.
