Blu-ray Review: Arrival

There’s an interesting story here. Yes, it’s very light on action, but it helps cover up for that with a plot that doesn’t get overly sidetracked in the scientific minutia (we’re looking at you, Interstellar) and grounds itself in human emotion. Maybe it’s a little optimistic in the way countries work together, but there’s ample drama and a really interesting swerve to boot.

The Wire Troll: Ryan Strome Driving Islander Playoff Push

In the last seven games, Nelson has seven points. He scored in four consecutive games, and his highlight was against Toronto, in which he had a three-point night, and scored the game winner in overtime. If Nelson keeps generating the shots he had in that game, and his previous effort, the numbers will be there.

The Wire Troll: Okaro White is Miami’s Lucky Charm

After showing signs of breaking out in 2014-15, it’s pretty much been all downhill for the seventh overall pick from 2013. However, before we completely write McLemore off as a bust, it’s worth pointing out that lately he’s been jacking them up from downtown as a ridiculous pace, canning 9-of-15 from beyond the arc over the last two games. On Friday, he narrowly missed a double-double while adding four steals, and last week he showed signs that he could get to the line more often. Slowly, but surely, McLemore’s game is forming. Perhaps it’s worth picking him up to see if he’s simply a late bloomer.

Blu-ray Review: Quarry: Season 1

Quarry does dark, and it does it well. There are no “good guys” here. Mac is a killer who left his wife to do a second tour in Vietnam without even discussing it with her. Jodi is unfaithful and still resents Mac for leaving (and for his own infidelity). The Broker seems calm and businesslike, but there’s more to him than just being a facilitator. It’s a quality job of layering the characters.

Video Game Review: Double Dragon IV

Whether you’re talking about presentation, controls or tactics, Double Dragon IV absolutely nails the old-school feel. In fact, its strict adherence to the source material is to its detriment. The problems start with the controls, which remove anything resembling precision from the equation and make you feel ponderous and awkward — two essential traits of any martial arts expert.

The Wire Troll: Is a Hurricane Starting to Form in Carolina?

The success that Aho has enjoyed can be contributed to an extent to his linemate. In all of the wins in the past week, Lindholm has picked up five assists, including two helpers that set up game winning goals. He’s not a goal scorer, but now it seems he has found some chemistry on the line with Aho and Jordan Staal, making him worth consideration for Fantasy purposes.
