Some sharp owners are beginning to pluck Middleton off the wire after news emerged that he’s making good progress in his recovery from surgery to repair a torn left hamstring. He’s been doing some light jogging and shooting, but obviously has a long road ahead of him. Still, it’s looking more likely that Middleton will be able to help your Fantasy team before season’s end (possibly as early as mid-February), so if you’re in a format that allows you to stash a player, grab him now.

The Wire Troll: Mike Fisher Hitting the Notes in Music City

The former Tampa Bay top pick is doing just fine with his fellow rookies in Arizona. The Coyotes may be hanging out in the league’s cellar, but the youngsters are receiving quality minutes of top development. DeAngelo is one of those benefiting from it, and so are his Fantasy owners. He had a goal, two points, a minus-2 rating, two power play points and 10 shots on goal in four games last week. The former Sarnia Sting star has three goals, nine points and a minus-1 rating in 16 games while averaging 19:18 of ice-time. As you can see, he’s far from sheltered.

The Wire Troll: Sam Gagner Pacing Columbus Blue Jackets

So, a fire sale should be starting any time now in Colorado. The mighty Habs systematically dismantled the Avalanche 10-1 Saturday in what was just the latest of an unusually large amount of high scoring games this season. Seriously, some of these scores are getting ridiculous. Anyway, on to this week’s Fantasy hockey waiver wire picks.

The Wire Troll: Joe Ingles Gets a Chance

This veteran has never really shown a great offensive game, but is always an asset because of his steals. Lately, however, Allen is doing it all, recording double-doubles in two of the last three games, while flirting with a couple of more since the beginning of December. His shooting touch has been off the charts in recent games, and while he’s simply not a three-point threat, the points, boards and ever-present steals make Memphis’ starting two-guard a nice target right now.
