The Wire Troll: Minnesota’s Young Talent Ready For Prime Time

A journeyman, Johnson seems to have finally found his place in the NHL. The Flames’ netminder led all goaltenders last week with three wins, a 1.00 goals against average, a .968 save percentage and a shutout. He has seven wins, a 1.98 goals against average and a .928 save percentage this season, meaning you should have already added him to your team.

The Wire Troll: Bismack Biyombo Waving the Finger in Orlando

Mills is mostly coming off the bench, so his minutes tend to fluctuate, but he’s recently been seeing enough action to put up Fantasy-worthy numbers, including Friday’s 19-point explosion that featured two treys and a steal. This diminutive Australian nearly led his country to its first ever basketball medal in the Olympics in the summer, ranking second in the tourney with 21.3 PPG, so you know he’s capable of carrying an offense when needed.

The Wire Troll: Valtteri Filppula Striking For the Lightning

Ward has been off the charts good this month, especially lately, with a shutout Tuesday and just three goals allowed over his last three games — all wins. He now has a winning record, and should easily shatter last season’s total of 23 wins. There’s a reason Ward has been one of the week’s hottest pickups, but there’s still time to jump on his train if you need netminding assistance.

The Wire Troll: Mike Muscala Coming Into His Own For Hawks

What is this, alumni week? All these old farts refusing to make way for the future… it’s crazy! Barnes, who will be 37 before the season is up, is another throwback player, posting back-to-back 15-point efforts in the last two games, with a combined six treys. Hell, he even added seven boards and two blocks on Friday in a pretty damn complete effort. As we mentioned up top, with the Kings going small, Barnes is one of the players who stands to benefit, so give him a long look as so far his homecoming (he’s a Sacramento native and played one season for the Kings before electricity was invented) is going extremely well even if he’s not seeing the same kind of minutes he did last season.

The Wire Troll: Staal Lines Tearing up NHL

The former Chicago Blackhawk seems to be doing just fine with the ‘Canes. Staal is a proven vet, and Aho has clearly brought his talent across the Atlantic with him, making it an easy transition for Teravainen. Teravainen had two goals, five points, a plus-1 rating, a power play point, a game-winning goal and 11 shots on goal in four games last week.

The Wire Troll: C.J. Goes the Extra “Miles” in Indiana

The old guy on the Lakers is reminding us he can score, going off for 22 on Sunday and then adding 20 in just 29 minutes on Tuesday. Young is seeing more minutes lately, and his shooting touch has been off the charts — even from downtown. The Lakers actually have a few guards that can put the ball in the hoop, but Young’s ability to do so consistently makes him an attractive target if your team needs a boost in this department.
