I’m betting on Bourjos. There is no doubting that 2012 was an unmitigated disaster, but he simply has too many skills to fall off the map that quickly and decidedly. If you can grab him in the latter rounds and he can bounce back to his 2011 level of play, what a nice bonus you’ll get.

He managed a career high in at-bats, and oh baby, did he ever take advantage of them, winning the batting title and enjoying a power breakthrough. Posey led the NL in WAR, proving he deserved the MVP by sabremetric criteria as well. His extra-base pop may have peaked, but he’s certainly capable of repeating what he did in 2012. Proving he’s just a damn nice guy to boot, Posey donated his MVP bonus to his old high school. He is also listed in our First Base Rankings, coming shortly.

Rodriguez struck out more often than usual – which was plenty to begin with – and after back-to-back double-digit steal seasons, he only swiped five bags (on just five tries, too; what up with that?). That, combined with less power and a weaker BA limited him to use only in deeper AL-only leagues.
