The Wire Troll: Anthony Banda on the Comeback Trail

Nola went yard on Wednesday, part of a second straight three-hit game, raising his BA to .356. He currently only qualifies at first base in most leagues, but could very well earn qualification at second base, and possibly catcher and third base as well — something that would really hike his value. Nola, a 29-year-old rookie, has looked very productive in his first taste of the bigs and while it’s been a long road for this 2012 fifth round pick to get the majors, he’s making the most of his opportunity. It doesn’t hurt that he’s drawing walks at a higher clip than he did at Triple-A, either. Garcia piled up the walks at Double-A to begin the season, earning a promotion to Triple-A, where his power was off the charts. Not bad for a dude that before this season had been out of organized ball for five years.

The Wire Troll: Austin Voth Ascends to Nationals Rotation

If Jansen is the Toronto catcher of the present, Moreno is making his case as the catcher of the future, and establishing himself as a nice dynasty league option. Just 19, Moreno is already making his full-season ball debut and with a .333 BA over the last 10, he’s now flirting with a .300 BA through 35 games. His contact rate is off the charts for such a youngster.
