Jake Bauers is starting to come into his own for the Cleveland Indians,

The Wire Troll: Jake Bauers Starting to Deliver

We’ve been waiting for this dude to put it together for some time now, and after a couple of false starts, McMahon seems to have figured it out. He’s riding a seven-game hit streak, has 10 RBI over the last five and six runs with four doubles over the last four. McMahon hinted at his power potential last year, but has taken a big step forward in that regard this season. He’s hit into four DPs, but with a 780 OPS, he’s finally a Fantasy asset and is locked in as an everyday player. Better yet, McMahon has recently moved up to fifth in the batting order and that’s really helped.

Adam Plutko is cementing his spot in the Cleveland Indians rotation.

The Wire Troll: Adam Plutko Arrives Back in Cleveland Rotation

For those keeper league owners that are already out of it this year, but looking towards the future, it’s time to consider picking up Pache. With another two hits Friday, he’s now hit safely in seven straight as he dominates in his first full season of Double-A — at age 20. Finally enjoying his long awaited breakout, the Dominican has managed to stay healthy while continuing to flash a fine hit tool (hit career BA in the minors is over .285). Pache will be forcing his way to Atlanta by this time next year, if not sooner.

Craig Kimbrel will upgrade the Chicago Cubs bullpen.

What to Expect From Craig Kimbrel as the Cubs Closer

Well, one thing is certain: Kimbrel will definitely help a bullpen that has blown 12 of 26 save chances so far this season. Regardless, the Cubs are still right in the thick of the NL Central, just a half game behind the Brewers entering play on Tuesday, so this addition is a welcome one. It’s probably not the last move Chicago will make to bolster the pen this season, but it’s the most important one.

Hunter Strickland will soon return for the Seattle Mariners.

The Wire Troll: Hunter Strickland Getting Healthy

Need some catching help in an AL-only league? Try Perez, who has homered in three straight games. He hit so poorly last year that he was useless from a Fantasy perspective, but has improved in that regard this season while showing more power than ever (he’s already reached a career high in dingers). You can do worse than Perez, who looks headed for a career year.

Nate Orf is tearing it up at Triple-A for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Wire Troll: Nate Orf Deserves a Second Chance

At 29, Orf is no longer a prospect, but that’s not to say he couldn’t be an asset in the majors. On Thursday, he was 2-for-4 with a double for Triple-A San Antonio, giving him a five-game hit streak and a .485 BA over the last 10 games. Orf earned himself a 15-game trial with the Brewers last year, but he hit poorly and showed minimal extra-base sock (however, his first career hit was a homer that garnered him a curtain call). This year in the minors, he’s hitting very well, cranking more homers, striking out less often and continuing to swipe bags. Orf may be blocked at second, but he’s shown he can fill a super utility role in the minors and this season has mostly played outfield, so it would be nice to see him get a look at some point as he strikes us as a player that could surprise if given enough PT.

Felix Pena has looked much sharper lately for the Los Angeles Angels.

The Wire Troll: Felix Pena Looking Sharp After Opener

Biggio got the call on Friday to make his MLB debut as the Jays continue to promote their top prospects. At Triple-A this year, he’s continued his trend of being a serious on-base machine (.445 OBP) thanks to exceptional strike zone judgment. The University of Notre Dame product offers Fantasy owners both power and speed, so grab him now and see what he can do — especially in OBP formats.
