We’re back to give him another look now that Booker’s out, and so far, so good. On Thursday, Shamet got his first start of the season and responded with 14 points, four threes and three boards, and then he added another three treys on Friday. His bucket count was up last month, but overall he’s seen his role reduced this season. This is Shamet’s chance to change that, and early on, he’s looked good, so makes for a nice short-term addition, especially if you need help with three-pointers.

The move paid immediate dividends as Birch — mostly known as a defensive specialist — came through with 14 points on Thursday. He followed that up with a near double-double on Friday, adding four steals and two blocks. Birch could stick as a starter for the time being, so expect his bucket count to rise while he provides help on the glass and pitches in with the occasional block or two. He’s definitely a better post player than he’s given credit for, and now he has a chance to prove it.

Bazemore is a deep league option only given how low he is on the Lakers’ go-to list. Still, he’s getting more touches this season and has been shooting a touch better from the line. And do remember that Bazemore is a fine source of treys and steals, so give him a look if you need help in this regard.
