Video Game Review: Defense Grid 2

Although the game’s focus is hammering the player into a hardened min-max pro, you don’t have to be godly at micromanagement to have a fun and successful time with Defense Grid 2. You’re still able to manipulate the speed of time, so if you’ve got what you think is a solid line of defense, crank up the speed and test out your theory! This can be a dangerous move, though, since, as mentioned above, the levels can change in an instant.

Video Game Review: Tales of Xillia 2

At first, Tales of Xillia 2 features a much faster pace than the original, but after the introductory segments comes the weirdest, most constrictive objectives we’ve encountered in a long while. As you quest, you slowly go deeper and deeper into debt with your employer, the Department of Other Dimension Affairs. Video Game Review: China Rising DLC

This map is set in a baking canvas in the middle of the desert. The smooth sand dunes creating splashes of light as you run by make it easy to see why the place is called The Silk Road. Although this map is wide and open, marksmen and tank drivers may find it difficult to do their job effectively because the heat is constantly distorting images in the distance, making even the most eagle-eyed crew wary of any unchecked advance. Air support is crucial in this map in order for infantry not to be completely decimated by armour, so the skies fill up nicely overhead. Along with the usual armoured transports and tanks, we also have the dirt bike coming back to us finally, which definitely makes CTF games a bit easier on the legs.

Video Game Review: Cloudberry Kingdom

The controls are uniform to the platforming genre and are very tight and responsive, being largely focused on making the millimeter-precise jumps that completely make the game. The character also has very little weight or gravity to him, so as long as you aren’t pushing the stick he will not budge. Jumping can feel a little too rough at first, but the game makes sure that some jumps are only possible if you are jumping blindly with faith. It’s pretty much complaint-free here.
