Video Game Review: Alien Breed 2: Assault

The basic “move with the left stick, aim with the right” scheme is in effect here with the right trigger firing your gun and the left trigger using items (health packs and grenades). It’s simple enough, but aiming feels imprecise and there were several times when I thought I’d killed something only to have it attack me once I changed targets. Part of the issue is that your weapon’s laser sight is a bit too dim and can get lost amid the action.

Video Game Review: NBA 2k11

The game also struggles at times with ball movement. Passing remains imprecise, which is then exacerbated by unrealistic defensive A.I. — players will actively deflect balls they have their backs to, particularly on outlet passes. Using icon passing (engaged by hitting the right bumper) alleviates some of this, but it’s not a cure-all. Shooting and defense feel pretty much the same as years past. That’s not surprising given both aspects are handled extremely well.

Video Game Review: NHL 11

As noted, player models and arenas look pretty much the same, which is fine as everything looks so smooth and natural gliding across the ice you won’t care. What might frustrate is the occasional bouts of slowing that occur when pucks start flying and skaters are scrumming it up along the boards. The camera angles in Be A Pro mode can also be annoying when they rotate around you rather than just staying locked. They’re small gripes, but they’re not unique to this year’s version, either.

Video Game Review: Front Mission Evolved

Although there are a handful of sequences where you’ll battle on foot, the majority of your time is spent in a Wanzer, the name of the giant mechanized robots. Your mech is extremely ponderous in its basic state and to counteract that you’ll constantly be “skating,” which is where your leg thrusters engage and allow quicker movements. Unfortunately, your mech only has a limited burst, and once your meter is drained you’ll need to wait for it to refill before engaging it again. During this time you’ll slowly lumber around as an easy target for nearby enemies, which can be frustrating. I also didn’t care for clicking the left stick to engage skate mode, especially when the “B” button is used sparingly.

2010-2011 RotoRob NBA Draft Kit: Point Guard Rankings

There’s little doubt that, when healthy, Paul is the NBA’s most dynamic point guard. The Wake Forest product averaged 21.9 points and 11.3 assists per game while shooting a cool 49.5 per cent from the field during the ’07-08 and ’08-09 seasons — he’s even a capable rebounder for his size (4.7 RPG over his career). Of course, the concern with Paul is his durability coming off a season in which he played just 45 games and underwent knee surgery. With Paul, though, the rewards outweigh the risks… substantially.

Video Game Review: Comic Jumper

After an initial mission that takes place in your soon-to-be-cancelled comic, the game brings you into a central hub, which includes things like a break room for out-of-work villains to hang out in, from which you’ll jump into the guest starring roles. Each such appearance will last a total of three issues, giving the game a total of 11 missions, and you’ll also unlock two additional challenges per comic (eight overall). It’s a good amount of content to be sure, and the replay value is high as you try to improve your score as well as complete the secondary objectives (such as take no damage while fighting a boss) contained in the missions.
