The Wire Troll: Melo-Drama at the Deadline

As the trade deadline approaches, Murphy is very likely to be headed out of Joisey to Parts Unknown. What is known is that no matter where he lands, he’ll see an increase in Fantasy value — mainly because he’s as close to the bottom of the Fantasy barrel as one can get at this point. Murphy has not played since January 7, and never looked like a good fit with the Nets. Keep in mind that this is the same guy that averaged a double-double each of the past two season for Indy — and is one of the few big men that will consistently give you better than one three-pointer per night. He figures to end up with a contending club, and should produce decent numbers down the stretch — though he won’t approach his 2008-09 level. Murph makes a fine speculative add if you need boards or threes, but keep the bait knife handy in case he doesn’t land in a favourable environment. And yes, the Troll will give his take via Twitter whenever Murphy packs his bags.

2011 RotoRob MLB Draft Kit: First Base Rankings

King Albert is an absolute machine. He has been for the last 10 years and 2011 should be no different. His stats compare favourably to anyone that has ever played the game, and the fact that negotiations on a long-term deal have been put on hold meaning Pujols will be playing in a contract year should only add more fuel to his fire. Look for the three-time MVP to top not only this position, but the entire NL with another outstanding campaign with his reward being a fat ass cheque.

Video Game Review: Microbot

Like all twin-stick shooters, you’ll move with the left analog stick and aim/fire with the right. The face buttons are not used, but the triggers deploy your auxiliary weapons (such as a harpoon or a nuke) and the shoulder buttons bring up your map. Despite these simple mechanics, the fact that your ship ebbs and flows in viscous fluids rather than calm space leads to some frustrating moments.

Video Game Review: Mindjack

Enemy variety is largely nonexistent. In fact, if memory serves, you fight exactly one unmasked individual in the entire game. At all other times it’s a continuous stream of basic troops, heavily armoured soldiers and mechs of various sizes. The main characters look okay during gameplay, but in cut scenes they fail to convey any emotion and the lip synching is off.

Video Game Review: Hard Corps: Uprising

It’s tough to find much fault in the game’s beautiful hand-drawn artwork, which has a distinctly anime flavour to it. Each of the eight locations is different as you battle everywhere from sparse deserts and lush jungles to high rises. Even amid chaos, enemy fire is generally easy to spot (avoiding it is another matter entirely) and I never encountered dips in the frame rate. The massive bosses are well designed and while there aren’t a ton of enemy types, what’s present looks good.

2011 RotoRob MLB Draft Kit: Top 10 Rookies

While the ’10 campaign undoubtedly set the bar very high, 2011 ushers in another strong group of first-year players that look poised to make an impact in both big-league ballparks and Fantasy lineups. Some of these players will be familiar names, as they made their big-league debuts last season, while others may be relatively unknown. Not all will start the season in the bigs; the economics of baseball dictate that small-market teams sometimes send their top prospects to the minors just long enough (typically late May or early June) to delay their arbitration-eligible date by one year and avoid “Super Two” status. The lesson here is this: Even if one of your targeted players is a late spring cut, keep one eye on his minor league numbers and another on the calendar. When Memorial Day rolls around, be prepared to pounce when your guy is called to The Show.
