Smooth and responsive, the controls should be immediately familiar to shooter fans. Jumping, melee attacks, sprinting and more are standard fare. In fact, about the only unique feature here is that the left bumper activates your character’s signature ability. Grenade tossing feels too imprecise, however — particularly an issue when equipping some of the game’s innumerable modifiers.

Beyond the basics, however, lies a deeper, timing-based layer to give the fights some meat. Blocks and counters, referred to as holds, become an essential part of combat once you start mixing it up with capable human opponents or crank up the difficulty. It’s no easy task considering you not only have to time your counter precisely but also ascertain where the blow is being aimed (high, middle, low) for your efforts to be successful.

MLB Today: Joe Mauer Creeping in on Batting Crown

Yes, it’s true. Mauer shook off a sluggish August with a massive September, hitting .388 with 16 RBI and 16 walks and a phenomenal 1060 OPS, to pull within two points of Miggy for the AL Batting Title. While Cabrera is home and clear with a nine-RBI lead, he’s only tied for the home run crown and now the batting average lead is getting rather slim. This puppy’s going to the wire.

2012-13 RotoRob NBA Draft Kit: Point Guard Rankings

Lob City was born when CP3 came to town, and the Clippers immediately went from also-ran to the playoffs. Paul missed some time with some minor injuries, but he enjoyed a big bounce-back effort. He used his outside game more than ever, but also managed to get to the charity stripe more often. Paul continues to be an excellent source of steals as well as points, assists and treys. He’s dealing with a thumb injury that will cost him some preseason games, but when the regular season kicks off, expect Paul to be good to go, so don’t downgrade him at all unless the injury lingers well into October.
