The Wire Troll: Michael Morse Turning on the Power

Who doesn’t need a boost in their power numbers in 2011? Last week, Morse homered in four consecutive games and drove in nine runs. The power will be there as evidenced by his 15 homers in 266 at-bats in 2010 and LaRoche, if he comes back at all this year, is going to be a shadow of his past with the serious shoulder woes. Find a home for Morse in all leagues.

The Wire Troll: The Return of Domonic Brown

First, the good news: At two levels in the minors last year, Brown slugged 20 homers, drove in 68 runs, stole 17 bases and amassed a stellar .317 BA. Prior to his promotion to the Phillies last week, he has mashed two homers with 10 RBI and a .341 BA through 41 at-bats at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Now the bad news: This spring, Brown went 1-for-16 and has yet to demonstrate his enormous potential at the big league level. It also looks — at least early on — that he’ll be riding the pine against southpaws. There is no doubt Brown has incredible potential; the question is when will we see it in the bigs? If you want this kid on your Fantasy squad you’re going to have to spend that FAAB and burn the draft priorities now and with the list of top prospects that will be venturing to the bigs over the next month or so, it’s a rather risky move if you’re playing in a redraft format.

The Wire Troll: The Eric Hosmer Era Begins

The broken ankle that messed up Sizemore’s 2010 rookie campaign appears to be behind him. At Triple-A Toledo, he had slugged two homers, driven in 15 runs, and hit for an incredible .405 BA, prompting Detroit to recall him last week. Hitting in the two-hole for the Tigers, Sizemore should provide a decent spark for both Detroit and your Fantasy squad.

Podcast: Indians Rolling Despite Poor Start by Carlos Santana

With this mind, how could we not take the opportunity to discuss the amazing start we’ve seen from the Cleveland Indians? The Tribe currently enjoys a 4.5-game lead in the AL Central. Anyone that predicted such a scenario a month or so ago would have to be accused of drinking a bit too much Lake Erie water (of course, we would have already known that because they would be glowing — and not in a good way).
