The Wire Troll: Trolling for Saves

It’s time to briefly discuss a little year-end Fantasy strategy. For those Fantasy owners playing in leagues with an inning cap for pitching, it’s important to remember that stat service providers do in fact allow you to exceed that maximum. On the day your team exceeds the maximum, all stats accrued on that day will count. If you have points to gain on that last weekend in both wins and strikeouts, loading up on your starting pitching can be a difference maker. It can be a long winter when you come up one win or a handful of strikeouts short of a league title.

The Wire Troll: This Bud’s For You

Norris has four wins in his past six starts — an amazing feat for a Houston starter — and has gone at least six innings in each of those starts. Don’t expect a repeat of that 14-strikeout performance against the Pirates any time soon, but Norris has turned into a viable option in all formats. Those playing in H2H formats should seriously consider him as an option as a two-start pitcher this coming week.

The Wire Troll: Pie in the Sky

It’s hard to believe that Pie is only 25. We’ve been following his unlimited potential tag since he enjoyed that 2006 breakout campaign at Triple-A Iowa at the age of 21. Over the past ten games, Pie has hit .300 with two homers, six RBI and one theft, making him an intriguing option over the balance of 2010. Potential five-category players should always be near the top of your shopping list.F

The inter-league trade deadline has now come and gone and with it a plethora of player moves that is certain to make the Fantasy owner a busy individual Sunday. For those playing in single league formats with weekly transactions, Sunday will be a day to break out the FAAB dollars and burn the waiver wire priorities that you’ve been sitting on for the first four months of the season.
