The Wire Troll: Vince Carter Returns From Foot Woe

And despite occasional flashes of his old self, Vinsanity’s early season play caused most owners (myself included) to jettison him to the waiver pool. A sprained foot injury that sidelined him for the past five games didn’t help matters, but VC returned Friday and was healthy enough to tie his season high with 28 minutes, canning 5-of-10 from the field (including a trey) for 12 points with four boards and three assists. The backcourt in Big D is a hot mess, but Carter should be considered in deeper formats and put on the watch list in standard leagues.

The Wire Troll: Ronnie Price the New Two in Phoenix

On Friday, Price played 30 minutes, nailed a pair of 3-pointers, had his second block in three games and had two steals – the fourth time in five games he’s had multiple swipes. The Wire Troll: Brandon Rush Now Starting

Thursday, he played a whopping 40 minutes and nailed three three-pointers with three assists and four boards as part of a 12-point game. Rush flashed potential with the Pacers, but now that he’s on the free-wheeling Warriors, he’s got a real chance to shine – at least for the time being. Some reports suggest that Curry may be back as soon as Sunday, but that sounds ridiculously optimistic. Expect Rush to hold this gig for the next week at least, after which he will resume his role as the sixth man, where he may still hold value in deeper leagues.

The Wire Troll: Carlo Colaiacovo Producing for the Blues

Did you ever have the feeling that January really is just “one of those months?” This is the time of year where Fantasy thoughts turn into the classic “oh, who is hurt now?” scenario. If you don’t think so, then think again. When you recall some of the more recent injuries, they really do have Fantasy GMs scrambling for viable alternatives.
