The other problem is injuries. More so than seemingly any previous season, injuries have wreaked such havoc on Fantasy teams in 2010-11. At press time, there were a whopping 130 injuries and 25 of those were head/concussion issues. When you figure that 15-to-20 per cent of NHL players are ailing in some way, some unconventional measures are in order.

Desharnais has almost come out of nowhere to post 10 points in his last 11 games including a four-game point scoring streak during which he’s put up seven points. Here is a guy that is only owned in 2 per cent of leagues but has received increased ice time and has shown himself to have a pretty good knack of being in the right place at the right time. If you are looking real deep, Desharnais is someone to get on your squad before your playoffs start.

The ripple effects of the injury are going to affect waiver wires plenty. Pittsburgh still does not have its two high scoring weapons and actually we do know quite a few people that have employed that very strategy in building their team. What do you do in such a situation? It is quite unique and one that does not have an easy answer. There are many that have gone on to say that they have never seen anything like this in all their years of playing Fantasy hockey.

FThis is another short week because of the All-Star game. However, on Tuesday they will get back at it in the NHL which means it will be full steam ahead for your Fantasy hockey teams once again. Keep in mind with the five-day work week for some and six for other leagues, scores will be a bit skewed. That being said, it is time to check out some teams that are enjoying the schedule this week (which is a nice way of saying they are busy).
