The Wire Troll: Christian Ponder Gets the Call in Minny

That second-rounder will become a first if the Raiders win a playoff game, so the price to bring Palmer back to the west coast was steep indeed. We find it hard to believe that he’ll live up to his hefty price tag, but Palmer should be fine once he beats out Boller — which will probably have happened by the time you read this. Grab Palmer in all formats and stash him for a tasty matchup.

The Wire Troll: It’s Tim Tebow Time

Well, what have we here? Painter threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns — without a pick — against Kansas City in Week Five, thus solidifying his hold on the Colts’ starting job. There’s a downside here, though: 237 of Painter’s yards came in the first half, and that kind of inconsistency should be expected as he adapts to the NFL. He is making progress, though, and as long as he’s at the helm of the Colts’ weapon-laden offense, he’s worthy of consideration in larger Fantasy leagues. The Wire Troll: Jonesing for Jacoby

Yes, seriously. McNabb is off to a slow start this season, and has fallen out of whatever Fantasy favour he enjoyed at the beginning of the season. He did post decent numbers last week, though, and more of the same could be in store as he faces the porous Arizona pass defense, which has surrendered an average of 282 passing yards per game. Don’t look to McNabb to be much more than a one-week pickup, but if your regular signal-caller is on a bye the veteran could be worth a look.

The Wire Troll: Don’t Doubt Thomas

Through two games, Dalton has thrown for 413 yards and three touchdowns without a pick, and his performance has the Queen City abuzz with talk of a potential return to respectability for the Bengals in 2011. That’s big talk for a franchise that has finished above .500 only twice in the past 21 seasons, but hey, if there’s one thing redheads are good at, it’s inspiring crazy talk — and crazier deeds. If you’re in a deeper (more than 12 team) league, or play in a two-quarterback format, Dalton is well worth adding to your roster.
