The 12th overall pick in this year’s draft has enjoyed a great preseason and has quickly established himself as a key part of the young Thunder core. Santa Clara product Williams showed a great scoring touch on Thursday, going off for a team-high 21 points, and at this point, many are already wondering how he fell so far in the draft. Now it an ideal time to get in on the ground floor of a potential future Fantasy star.

Milking the wire can provide value in many ways. Sometimes, it offers a temporary fix to an injury issue or it’s simply a case of jumping on a player delivering short-term value. But when you pick up a player and he sticks on your team for the entire season (or even the lion’s share) and contributes throughout, that is the true definition of waiver wire gold.

Yes, Howard’s PT is very inconsistent, but this game proved that he can still be useful when given the chance. His work on the defensive glass hasn’t been good lately and his bucket count is down this season, but if you had him active this week, you got your money’s worth with a vintage performance. Remember what kind of post moves Howard had when he came out of high school? Every now and then, he reminds us.

With Ingram sidelined at least a week, Snell was getting a chance to start, and while his efforts on Wednesday and Friday (no points or assists) were quite forgettable, he did play 31 minutes on Wednesday, and that got our attention in deeper formats. Snell isn’t jacking up as many three-pointers this month, so that’s something we’d like to see more of, but when he was starting in Portland, he did manage to contribute more offensively. At this point, consider Snell a short-term flier in very deep leagues.
