2013 RotoRob MLB Draft Kit: Outfield Rankings

He recorded his second straight 30-30 season (actually topping 40 homers for the first time) and nearly matched his slugging percentage from his MVP 2011 campaign. Braun has returned from his stint with Team USA at the WBC, but the BioGenesis controversy isn’t going away. A knee woe certainly didn’t slow him down in the WBC and shouldn’t be a factor as the season begins. Still, the positive test that was overturned last year really sticks in our craw. We’re expecting Braun’s baserunning skills to continue to slide this season, but not so much that he doesn’t ascend to the top spot on this list.

The Wire Troll: Easter Hockey Tidings…

Tarasenko is surely a talent and a scary good one at that. Since his comeback from a concussion earlier in the season, the forward was oh so close to scoring so many times in the six-game stretch. Then he exploded for both goals against the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-2 loss. After 23 games, the Russian has 16 points and remains on track for a potential Calder Trophy nod. Video Game Review: Gears of War Judgment

While there’s no doubt some will enjoy the relative change of pace, others will find it hurts the continuity of the story to be looking at a level breakdown every 5-to-10 minutes. Ortiz has finally started taking BP, but has been unable to run the bases because of the injury, so you’d be wise to lower your projected at-bats for the big guy. The longer the pain lingers, the less likely it is he’ll be ready on Opening Day. MRIs have revealed inflammation in both of his heels, and let’s not forget that a similar injury last year limited him to 90 games. Uh oh.

2013 RotoRob MLB Draft Kit: Top 60 Prospects, Part IV

The first overall pick in last year’s draft, Correa has already ascended to near the top of the Astros’ prospect rankings. Taken out of a Puerto Rico high school, he will move to full season ball this year after playing at two different rookie levels in 2012 upon signing. Correa, 18, got plenty of at-bats in the GCL before a promotion to the Appy League to wrap up the season. He’s just 50 games into his pro career, so don’t start planning for his arrival in Houston any time soon, but Correa’s power as a shortstop has to intrigue keeper league owners. Like many youngsters, he’ll need to learn patience as he moves up the ladder, but his strong work ethic should stead him well as he develops his game.
