I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not nearly as comfortable playing shooters on the PS3 as I am on the Xbox 360 (I miss the triggers), but that fact alone cannot explain away the game’s uneven, and at times needlessly complex, controls.

It’s now been four years since the Oakland A’s last took home the AL West title, winning 93 games that season. Since then, it’s been 76, 75 and 75 wins, and it wouldn’t shock me to see the A’s struggle to match that total this season in what is clearly a rebuilding year.

Ah, contract year players. This is the time when you see players perform out of their minds and rise from mediocrity in order to trick desperate teams in free agency. A career .250 hitter will hit .330 out of nowhere in his contract year in order to get that $50 million deal. A career 4.50 ERA pitcher will lower that ERA to 3.70 and parlay that into a $48 million contract. The contract season either makes or breaks a player’s bank, and we are here to show you the top 10 players in the last year of their contract going in to 2010. These are players who have been good in the past and are likely to put up even more monstrous numbers in order to gain that huge contract.

When that last round in your draft arrives, you’re tired and all you seem to see is dog meat out there. Well, we suggest you take a look at some of these guys to help fill out your roster. All of them have been getting no respect over at Mock Draft Central where they are all currently being taken, on average, under the 245th pick. Now, none of these guys are going to win you a title with their numbers, but I think they can all be valuable contributors to any team.

My personal favourite of the new maps, Bailout takes place in a bombed out apartment complex. There are several buildings throughout the map that offer multiple levels and vantage points. It holds up well regardless of the number of players or game type, though I found I had the most fun with Domination. The battles that take place for the B position are some of the game’s most intense, and I never felt like any spot I went on the map was airtight or indefensible. It also features more vibrancy and colour than the traditionally bleak MW2 multiplayer maps, further ensuring it stands out from the crowd.

Twenty-one goals and 24 assists isn’t a fantastic rookie campaign, but Tavares isn’t playing with a lot of talent. He really hasn’t had anyone to mentor him, but his game has still managed to evolve. Tavares had an average season and I don’t think anyone is looking for him to do much better next year, but I suspect he’ll have a huge season.
