Deivi Garcia had a brilliant MLB debut for the New York Yankees.

The Wire Troll: Deivi Garcia Delivers for Yanks

Okay, Cody wasn’t exactly mistake free in his first MLB start on Friday (his walk and errant pick off throw led to a run), yet he wound up giving up just one hit and an unearned run over three frames and still has a perfect ERA with a sweet 0.95 WHIP through four appearances. Cody’s wildness will likely haunt him, but he’s pitched around it so far — not bad for a dude that missed most of the last two seasons because of elbow woes and one that had never before pitched above High-A.

The Wire Troll: Jays Turn to Jordan Romano

Misiewicz is another hurler that has escaped Fantasy owners’ attention so far, but this southpaw rookie has been downright nasty against left-handed hitters (.429 OPS against). He’s proved versatile, pitching very short outings and often going multiple innings, while throwing on a seemingly daily basis. Misiewicz intrigues us with his strikeouts and holds, and if he can induce groundballs as a similar rate to what he did in the minors, he could be a very useful AL-only league asset.

The Wire Troll: Kevin Gausman Comes of Age

Schmidt looked really impressive in Spring Training, so it may be time to see what the 24-year-old righty can do in the Show. The Yankees’ first round pick in 2017 (16th overall) has a tremendous slider, helping him move up last year to Double-A, where he went undefeated and averaged a strikeout per frame in a late-season look. Schmidt is a better dynasty option, but could provide a surprise boost in redraft leagues should he be promoted, which seems likely at some point this season.

The Wire Troll: Dylan Carlson to Provide Covid Relief to Cards

Signed this offseason, Iglesias is proving to be a very astute addition by the Orioles as he’s come out blazing. With another hit Friday, he’s now got a modest three-game streak, but his work over the first 50 at-bats — .380/.396/.540 — has been other worldly. While Iglesias opened some eyes with a four-hit, three-RBI game last week, he’s been consistently raking since the season began.

Mauricio Dubon has been performing well for the San Francisco Giants.

The Wire Troll: Mauricio Dubon Delivers for Giants

Moore enjoyed back-to-back multi-hit efforts this week before a stinker on Thursday. While he showed an impressive walk rate as a rookie last season, he has yet to draw a free pass through his first 34 plate appearances this year, but this more aggressive approach seems to be working. Moore’s emergence is a huge surprise, so it’s tough to say it’s sustainable, but you may as well give him a shot while he’s ripping it.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa qualifies at multiple positions for the Texas Rangers.

The Wire Troll: Isiah Kiner-Falefa Deserves Fantasy Attention

It wasn’t our best call as he didn’t see as much PT in September, a trend that continued last year. Early on this season, however, Kiner-Falefa again looks like a decent pickup, especially given his catcher qualification. He’s already showing more extra-base sock and has beefed up his BA to the point it won’t hurt you. But it’s the speed potential at catcher that is really enticing (on Wednesday, he had a hit, a walk, two runs and a pair of thefts). Clearly, the hamstring issue Kiner-Falefa had earlier in the week is a non-issue. This is a dude that deserves some Fantasy attention; he flew under the radar as a prospect mostly because he looked like a utility man in the making, but his batting eye, multi-positional eligibility and speed are very intriguing.

Mychal Givens is likely to earn most of the saves for the Baltimore Orioles.

The Wire Troll: Could Chris Davis Bounce Back?

Hernandez is sure to be a popular pickup this weekend after his huge opener (four hits, a homer, two runs and five RBI) followed up by another pair of runs on Friday. He saw more PT last year despite a major slippage in performance; it looks like he’s poised to bounce back big time. If the Puerto Rican’s on-base skills can improve, he can be a real asset in that powerful Dodger lineup.
