The Wire Troll: Jonesing for Jacoby

Yes, seriously. McNabb is off to a slow start this season, and has fallen out of whatever Fantasy favour he enjoyed at the beginning of the season. He did post decent numbers last week, though, and more of the same could be in store as he faces the porous Arizona pass defense, which has surrendered an average of 282 passing yards per game. Don’t look to McNabb to be much more than a one-week pickup, but if your regular signal-caller is on a bye the veteran could be worth a look.

The Wire Troll: American League All-Wire Team

It’s that time of the year when we can look back at some of the gems that found their way onto our Fantasy teams through the waiver wire. When you look to the winners in league play, our American League All-Wire selections will be on many a team atop the leader board. Without further ado, let’s give those justly deserving winners their due accolades.

The Wire Troll: Don’t Doubt Thomas

Through two games, Dalton has thrown for 413 yards and three touchdowns without a pick, and his performance has the Queen City abuzz with talk of a potential return to respectability for the Bengals in 2011. That’s big talk for a franchise that has finished above .500 only twice in the past 21 seasons, but hey, if there’s one thing redheads are good at, it’s inspiring crazy talk — and crazier deeds. If you’re in a deeper (more than 12 team) league, or play in a two-quarterback format, Dalton is well worth adding to your roster.

The Wire Troll: David Murphy’s Law

I want to thank all our readers that followed the column this year and hopefully somewhere along the way we managed to steer you in the right direction in the pursuit of your league title. One of the rites of September is always the chase for late-season counting numbers in the pitching categories, so this week I’ve listed some starting pitchers that could be available for those looking to stream pitching. Have a great stretch drive and stay tuned as I begin my annual fall tradition of reviewing some of the happenings on the other side of the Pacific.

The Wire Troll: What’s Out: Fisting a Tiger; What’s In: Fister the Tiger

I’ve never been a Fister fan (please, no comments are required) and actually expected him to struggle with the move to Detroit from the cozy confines of Safeco. However, he’s doing his best to make a liar out of me as he’s coming off three solid starts in which he’s won twice and allowed only two earned runs.

The Wire Troll: Logan Morrison is Retweeted…er, Recalled

One of my favourite dates is just around the corner. The September 1 roster expansion will mean a steady stream of players both auditioning for roles in 2012 and up to provide depth for those clubs still in the chase. Do these players have Fantasy related value? Yes, especially over the last several weeks of the season. Stay tuned for a thorough review in the next week as we attempt to find some of those hidden gems.
