NBA Today: Reggie Miller Heads Hall of Fame Candidates

Let’s look at the reasons why he wasn’t a Hall of Famer: he never won a championship; in 18 seasons, Miller was never named to either the first or second All-NBA Team, receiving just three nods as a third teamer; only twice did he receive any MVP votes, never winning the award; he wasn’t much of a rebounder, didn’t get many assists and, while he’s currently 14th overall in points, his career PPG average of 18.2 only ranks 91st; he’s only 45th all-time in 3-point percentage.

NBA Today: Elton Brand Finally Shows Up

Brand, who also threw up three blocks, has not been pulling down as many boards so far this season, so it was definitely nice to see a double-digit effort. Philly has a balanced scoring attack, so I expect his points to fluctuate from night to night, but a consistent rebounding effort would go a long way towards getting those unforgiving Philly fans off his back. The good news is that he reportedly seemed very relaxed on Tuesday.

NBA Today: D.J. Augustin Shakes Off the Rust

Well, Augustin came out of the All-Star break with a serious statement game on Tuesday, canning 8-of-15 from the field (including two three-pointers) and 5-of-5 from the line for 23 points and eight assists in close to 36 minutes of action. It was great to see his shot falling, especially given his horrific shooting woes of late (14-of-49 in his previous half dozen games).
