He hit .340 with an OPS of 1010 in June, mashed to the tune of a .411 BA in July with six steals and a slugging percentage of .752, which is an MLB season high for any month this year. Oh, and after smacking another pair of hits Friday – including a double – and adding his career-best 23rd steal of the season – he’s now hitting a robust .325 so far in August.

MLB Today: Adam Jones’ Quiet Breakout

Okay, Jones has been ice cold lately (0-for-12 in the last three, but at least he delivered his 70th RBI Tuesday), however, he’s coming off a fine July (.320, five homers) which followed an impressive June (seven homers) and a pretty sweet May (.343, 15 RBI). It all adds up to top 15 value at his position as the just turned 26-year-old is beginning to scratch the surface of the uber talent we’ve all believed he has. And thanks to Baltimore’s woeful play, Jones’ fine season has pretty much been lost in the shuffle.

MLB Today: Edward Mujica Emerging as an Asset

Still, he’s enjoying a very strong campaign, worthy of attention in deeper NL-only leagues. In fact, Mujica has probably performed at a top 50 level among relief pitchers this season, shaking off a rough April with three splendid months since. His command has again been off the charts, and just take a peek at his WHIP and try to tell me that wouldn’t be useful. Throw in a whopping eight wins and you’ve got yourself a very fine non-closing Fantasy reliever.

MLB Today: The Resurrection of Micah Owings

Now all of a sudden, he’s re-emerged with value for the D-Backs. Owings has mostly been a long reliever this year, but he looked really strong in his start last Sunday, earning himself the fifth starter job in Arizona for the time being. Saturday Owings gets the Dodgers – a really good match up, especially in LA where the Dodgers have been unable to generate any offense this year.
