Victor Olofsson had a tremendous rookie season for the Buffalo Sabres.

2019-20 NHL Wire Troll All-Star Team

When we recommended Toffoli, it was under the assumption he’d get traded to a team that would value him after he had worn out his welcome in LA. Well, he was better in November and then caught fire in December (15-5-6-11) to help up his value. By February, Toffoli was averaging a point per game, and when he was finally dealt to the Canucks, he rewarded them with 10 points in 10 games before the pause. In seeing more ice than ever after the deal, he provided Vancouver with more size, a winning background and some sweet scoring prowess.

Brayden McNabb has been a hit master for the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Wire Troll: Brayden McNabb Bashing Opponents

The Flames signed Mackey, an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State (Mankato) after he put up an impressive 24 points in 36 games. The 23-year-old American native has decent size (6’2″, 183) and shoots left. In three college seasons, he totaled 61 points, but really broke out this season, earning WCHA First All-Star Team honours. Mackey is known as a top-notch skater and very capable two-way blueliner.

Nikita Gusev is having a strong rookie season for the New Jersey Devils.

The Wire Troll: Jonathan Quick Jumps Back in Time

Not your typical rookie — the Russian born Gusev is 27 — he’s still enjoying a very fine debut season. On Tuesday, his six-game point streak was snapped, but he’s coming off a very strong February (10 points in 14 games) and has been getting plenty of PP time of late. Gusev looks like a very fine option both in redraft leagues and in DFS play.

Brandon Saad has picked up his scoring for the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wire Troll: Brandon Saad Providing Scoring

We’ve already pimped Acciari this season, but he deserves a second look given what a good campaign he’s having. He picked up an assist on Thursday, was +1 for a third straight game and, with 10 shots over the last four, he’s been generating offense. Acciari ripped back-to-back hat tricks earlier this season, so he’s a dude capable of scoring in bunches. You’ll definitely want him on your team the next time he’s goes on a tear.

Clutterbuck has been dealing with a wrist injury, but he’s going to start skating when the Isles come off their bye week, which should mean he’ll return around mid-February. His modest offense was down further this season, but that’s not his chief allure (he hasn’t scored more than eight goals since 2015-16). Clutterbuck is the king of hits, regularly placing among the league leaders. In fact, he’s still 35th in the NHL despite missing the last 16 games.

Ilya Kovalchuk has been a nice addition for the Montreal Canadiens.

The Wire Troll: Ilya Kovalchuk Killing it in Montreal

He scored a goal with four hits and +1 rating on Thursday, giving him a four-game point streak (2-4-6). Duchene started the season well, but has been sliding since, so it’s good to see him coming on now. After scoring a career-high 31 goals last season, he’s only on pace for 20 this season, but should reach 40 assists for just the third time in his career, so the news isn’t all bad.
