Dampier’s illness (apparently related to numbness in his arm, which sounds life-threatening scary, but his reaction was nonchalant — “I just had a little numbness in my arm,” he said) appears to be behind him, and the beefy centre is once again snaggin’ boards and swattin’ shots. He has averaged 9.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game in nine December starts, but is available in more than half of all Yahoo! leagues. Dampier is entrenched as the team’s starter, and is a worthy waiver wire pick-up if you’re in need of boards and blocks.

NBA Rookie Roundup

Now that we are roughly a quarter of the way through the regular season, we can start to assess how this class of rookies is performing. From a Fantasy perspective, this may not be as deep as those classes in years past, but there are still a couple studs and a few diamonds in the rough. These rankings are based on my projection of how they can help your Fantasy team for the rest of the 2009-2010 season. If you are in a keeper league, your strategy obviously changes and there may be a few guys to stash that you would not usually have on a one-year team.

The Wire Troll: Happy Returns

Hopefully, those of you playing in daily lineup leagues rushed CP3 back onto the floor in time. Weekly lineup leaguers were almost certainly out of luck…and you guys need to remind me again why this “set and forget” format is an enjoyable way to play the game. Go ahead and get him in your lineup for next week — and maybe use this as a learning experience concerning your league format preference for next season.

Video Game Review: NCAA Basketball 10

For those that prefer to run isolation or penetrate and kick, EA has you covered there as well with multiple offensive sets that can be called by holding down the left bumper. You’re supplied with turbo (right trigger) and a collection of spin moves and crossovers mapped to the right stick to help you break down your defender. However, as well as perimeter play is handled, post offense feels pretty lean and affords only a handful of moves at your disposal.
