Shoemaker’s availability is almost stunning considering how magnificent he’s been this year, going 11-4 with a 3.84 ERA in 21 games (14 starts). More recently, he was 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA over his previous four appearances before Saturday, when he earned another win, just missing another quality start.

You’re probably not paying much attention to the Astros these days, but that hasn’t stopped Castro from surging. The backstop is 8-for-26 (.308) in August with a homer and two RBI. For the year, the lefty-swinging Castro is posting a respectable 687 OPS with 11 dingers. Okay, so he’s struggled to duplicate his 2013 breakout, but he looks poised for a nice finish.

Teixeira has actually had a pretty nice comeback season — at least in comparison to the nightmare that was 2013 — but he remains fragile, missing games here and there. And that makes him tough to bet on in daily fantasy baseball.
Draftster Recommendations: August 8 Read Post »
The strategy behind our “Peakers” team was to find guys that played on regular basis in 2013 that we believe could top their total homer output. There is plenty of youth on this team as well as some guys who have underachieved in recent years. We placed 225th for the month of July with 94 totals points. On the season, we are 390th overall with a point total of 437.
