Blu-ray Review: Live by Night

Action is a key element for a crime drama of this nature, and although Live by Night can be a little stingy in doling them out, there is a pair of standout sequences. The post-robbery car chase is really well done and something we haven’t really seen in movies set in this era. The final showdown is a tightly paced gun fight that makes you wish there’d been more of it.

Blu-ray Review: Fences

Washington and Davis are exceptional in their roles. It’s no surprise given their pedigree, but the fact that they played these characters so many times on Broadway certainly helped them flesh out the tiniest details. Washington was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor, and Davis took home the Oscar for Supporting Actress. This hardware was well deserved.

Video Game Review: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Based purely on world building, enemy construction and environmental diversity, Zero Dawn is nearly flawless. We couldn’t get enough of exploring the terrain, and the way nature blends with the remnants of Earth’s past is exceptionally done. There’s a plastic feel to human faces during the cut scenes, however, that feels a notch below other high-profile titles. A larger variety of silent strikes would’ve been appreciated as well.

The two develop feelings for one another, however, and when the job is done, Max invites Marianne to return to London and be his actual wife.

Blu-ray Review: Beavis and Butt-Head: The Complete Collection

Despite its age and the simplicity of the animation, the series still delivers some laughs. Not all of the episodes are gems, and certainly the lack of music videos hurts (more on that later), but Beavis and Butt-Head have lost little of their simple charm over the years. The supporting cast is better than we remembered it as well.
