Video Game Review: Cuphead

Make no mistake, it was Cuphead‘s insane style of a 1930’s cartoon come to life that started the hype machine and kept it going over the last several years. After seeing the finished product it’s fair to say it deserves every bit of praise being heaped on it. The watercolour backgrounds are detailed and exquisite, and the hand-drawn animations were clearly a labour of love.

Blu-ray Review: The House

There’s little wasted motion here with a runtime of less than 90 minutes, and the movie doesn’t try to have things make sense — such as how Frank’s house is transformed into a casino practically overnight. Video Game Review: Knack 2

One of the original’s biggest shortcomings was unresponsive controls. Thankfully, the sequel cleans most of that up. It all feels much cleaner this time around.

Video Game Review: Matterfall

There are 12 stages in all, nine regular and three boss battles. It’ll take around two hours to get through it the first time, though that could rise as the final encounter represents a significant difficulty spike, which is never a great feeling. Still, it’s a generally well conceived experience with a mix of action, platforming and even some bullet hell to deal with.

After being introduced to the Warden, Jesse and Jack make a break for it. It’s a short trip, however, as the surrounding area is like a maze infested with monsters.
