Video Game Review: Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Episode 4

Guardians of the Galaxy‘s penultimate episode Who Needs You highlights the best and worst of TellTale’s instincts, and the result creates a somewhat disjointed experience. On one hand, there is a much greater emphasis on character development rather than plot movement. This makes sense in many ways, as TellTale’s strength tends to come from the characters it presents.

Video Game Review: Final Fantasy IX

Your story begins on the world of Gaia, where a traveling band of performers known as the Tantalus Theater Troupe, including Zidane, head to the city of Alexandria to kidnap Princess Garnet. It’s here that Zidane learns Garnet wants to escape amid misgivings about her mother. As you leave you’ll connect with Vivi, a black mage, and Steiner, a knight tasked with protecting the Princess.

Video Game Review: Batman: The Enemy Within – Episode 2

The first episode of Telltale’s second Batman season ended with the surprise death of the Riddler after establishing him as a major threat. In the newest episode, The Pact, Telltale continues to twist established Batman lore and tropes, perhaps more so than anything since the revelation of the Wayne family in the first season.

Video Game Review: Knack 2

One of the original’s biggest shortcomings was unresponsive controls. Thankfully, the sequel cleans most of that up. Punching, kicking and jumping covers the basics of what you’ll be doing, though within that you’ll unlock additional moves as you level up, allowing you to throw flurries, jump and smash down to the ground, grab enemies at a distance and more. It all feels much cleaner this time around.

Video Game Review: Matterfall

There are 12 stages in all, nine regular and three boss battles. It’ll take around two hours to get through it the first time, though that could rise as the final encounter represents a significant difficulty spike, which is never a great feeling. Still, it’s a generally well conceived experience with a mix of action, platforming and even some bullet hell to deal with.

Video Game Review: Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two, Episode 3

After running afoul of the Admin once again at the end of Episode 2, Jesse was banished to some sort of prison along with Radar, Jack and, for some reason, Nurm (more on that shortly). After being introduced to the Warden, Jesse and Jack make a break for it. It’s a short trip, however, as the surrounding area is like a maze infested with monsters.
