Many questioned the Rays’ acquisition of Loney, but so far it’s been golden. He’s mashing to the tune of a .371 BA with two homers and 19 RBI, and has even tossed in a couple stolen bases for good measure. Is it sustainable? No… but you’ve got to ride the hot hand and Loney is currently all of that and then some.

Ruiz’s 25-game suspension is drawing to a close and with it comes the opportunity in many leagues to add a top-tier catcher. He is coming off an outstanding 16-homer, 68-RBI campaign and over the past four years his lowest OBP is .355. Get Ruiz rostered now as the cost of acquiring him will only increase as his return nears.

So far, so good. Despite reduced velocity, Kimbrel has been perfect so far, so if you’re chasing saves, there is no one better than the K-man. Last year, his WHIP was 0.65. Just think about that for a moment. No reliever is capable of racking up strikeouts like Kimbrel and while the low BABIP suggests he’ll likely regress somewhat this year, we’re hardly sweating. Over the last couple of years, very few closers have been sure things, but Kimbrel bucks that trend.

Jason Kubel hit the DL and Ross has been activated. We were a bit surprised to see Ross owned in so few leagues. He’s coming off a very solid 22-homer, 81-RBI season with the BoSox and should be a good source of power over the balance of 2013.
