That’s what we’re doing here as we take a look at Amazon’s new Fire TV, a hybrid streaming device and gaming console. Let’s see what this product, which retailed for US$99, has to offer and how it stacks up against comparable devices like Roku and Apple TV.

Review: MLB.TV Premium App (PS4/XB1)

Upon launching, you’re presented with a full-screen grid showing all the games for the current date. By default, these go top left to bottom right in order of start time, though if you identify a favourite team they’ll be moved into the first slot and starred. You can switch days with the shoulder buttons or view a monthly calendar by clicking the left stick. It’s very intuitive, well laid out and makes finding games a breeze.

Product Review: RotoDerby Offers a New Spin on Fantasy Baseball

You pick a 10-player starting roster (six infielders and four outfielders) with a home run cap (which varies annually), and compete against the rest of the pack to achieve the highest fantasy points for the season based on three stats: home runs (five points), runs batted in (one point) and strikeouts (minus one point).

Review: NBA Game Time App

The highlight packages are well done.

While we’ve experienced NBA League Pass through DirecTV in the past, we’ve never had the chance to check out the Game Time app with NBA Broadband until recently. To be clear, the app itself is free, but to watch full games you’ll need to pony up for the Broadband League Pass — the cost is either US$199 for access to all 30 teams or US$140 to watch any five teams of your choice.
