While most of the game takes place behind the wheel of your Magnum Opus, every now and then you’ve got to hop out to engage in conversation or collect materials. Regular fights will break out, and you’ve got to handle your enemies much like Batman has done in his last few games — rhythm-based combat awarding timing.

In the companies’ latest Dynasty Warriors-inspired title, Omega Force and Bandai Namco set us in the sandals of the ever-yearning pirate wannabe Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but fans of either series would do well by simply picking this game up.

We almost hate how much fun this game is. Call us easy to please, but Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is damn close to gaming perfection. We’ve got five upgradeable characters (all with their own play style), dungeons, monsters, comedy, co-op and three different gameplay modes.

On the plus side, you’re able to edit your deck at any time, and there’s a huge library of cards to select from. With the completely unengaging overall experience of actually dueling, however, it’s hard to find much incentive to dive into that aspect of the game. Combined with the difficult menu navigation, it further discourages experimentation.

War Chest, like its predecessors, lets you employ a variety of toys while on the battlefield, whether it’s a squeaky-treaded tank, a fire-breathing dragon or a number of powerful heroes. Controls for each type of unit are pretty uniform in their function: movement and camera actions are bound to the sticks, and scoping in and firing are done with the triggers. While in the default build mode you can zoom with the right stick to really get a good look at the figures and turret details.

The cars look absolutely fantastic, and even the drivers feature a good amount of detail and look very close to their real life counterparts (every driver featured in the game is real). All of the courses look great with their appropriately clean or worn tracks, depending on where you decide to race and how old the venue is.

To restore your full power, you must trap and murder people in humiliating, sadistic and ultra-violent ways. To unlock more traps, you have to complete small side objectives in a level, such as performing a six-hit trap combo, or having to strike an enemy mid-air.
