2014-15 RotoRob NHL Draft Kit: Top 10 Busts

Just a few days shy of his 21st birthday, the former first overall pick has already been considered a bust for a while now. After scoring 17 goals and 31 points in 48 games during the lockout shortened season, the young Russian only managed 11 goals and 24 points with a disastrous minus-33 rating in 63 games in 2013-14, even finding himself a healthy scratch on numerous occasions. Yakupov’s got the ability, but he finds himself slipping down the depth chart of an Oilers team looking to get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Don’t even think about him until you get a better sample size.

Sleepers are fun because not only can they make or break your Fantasy hockey season, but you’re also bound to get some interesting reactions from other Fantasy GMs. Hopefully, because you’re reading RotoRob.com’s Fantasy content religiously — as you very well should if you aren’t already — those reactions will be of disbelief and jealously rather than guffaws and scorn. Onward.

Oh yeah, Drouin then added 13 goals, 41 points and a plus-9 rating in 16 postseason games. But, you know, no big deal. We’re not advocating you take this guy in the draft, but odds are good someone in your league will. If he’s still on the board when you make your final pick, taking him could pay off big time.

At some point, Crosby has to be accountable for the postseason failures of the Penguins. If your wrist is injured, when do you take yourself out of the lineup or take less of a role? During the regular season, Crosby showed some signs of slowing down a bit (22 points in his last 20 games and a good bit of that was pre-injury). With a new coach and GM, a new system, and a few minor tweaks, Mr. Crosby should still do very well, but we are not convinced he will reach 100 points. It will be close. Touted as one of the best young goalies in the league, Quick proved it to the world with an incredible campaign in 2011-12. In an astounding 69 regular season games, the Milford, Connecticut native amassed 35 wins, a 1.95 goals against average, a .929 save percentage and 10 shutouts. The thing is, he wasn’t done — not by a long shot. In 20 postseason games, Quick added 16 wins, a 1.41 goals against average, a .946 save percentage and three shutouts in capturing the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe trophy as playoff MVP. The only man standing in the way of Quick and the Vezina was none other than Lundqvist mentioned above. Quick’s numbers have fallen off a bit the past few seasons, but he’s still a winner and was able to add another Cup to his credit. If Rask and Lundqvist are gone, we’re pretty sure you’ll be happy with Quick.

harp surprised a lot of people last season by pulling out a nearly 80-point season with 34 goals and 44 assists. This included 25 power play points. Needless to say the shoulder concerns are a distant memory. There is no doubt Sharp can be a top five LW this season as well, though some will say that others could challenge that lofty perch. His abilities on the man advantage always make him a very attractive Fantasy player and usually he goes lower than expected.
