Video Game Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Voice acting is pretty good during cut scenes and story-driven exchanges. It becomes incredibly repetitious during exploration, however, as both Spider-Man and the disposal villains will repeat lines far too frequently. We lost count of how many times we heard Spidey derisively say “I almost died… of boredom,” after throttling some lesser criminals. The music and sound effects are solid.

Diamond Stocks: Seth Smith Catches Fire

Smith fell a homer shy of the cycle Friday and then just missed it by a single on Saturday as he is now getting a chance to start every day and bat third in the Friars’ lineup. You might want to peek at his numbers because they are pretty darn good. All this guy has done is hit .531 (17-for-32) in his last eight games with a homer, seven RBI, seven doubles, and three triples. Are you kidding me? Smith’s 994 OPS seems almost absurd, but not as absurd as Fantasy owners continually overlooking this guy.

2002 MLB Draft Recap: Part III

The 6’3”, 195-pound Hermida made late moves up draft boards, adding 20 pounds to his frame in his senior year of high school. It’s hard to classify him as a bust because he played eight years in the Major Leagues, but his three best years were bunched together from 2007-09, and his last few years were spent trying to recapture that production before he flamed out with the Padres in 2012 — the last time he graced a major league diamond with his presence. Last year, Hermida showed good on-base skills in the Indians’ organization, but never got the call to Cleveland.

2014 RotoRob NFL Mock Draft: Nick

Every year we hear the same ol’ song and dance from coaches and general managers around the league as the draft draws near: “We plan on drafting the best player left on our board.” While that is the best long-term approach, the harsh reality of today’s NFL is that coaches only get a couple years to turn around an organization, so more often than not teams draft to fill needs, at times ignoring the higher talent in order to fill a void on the roster.
