Video Game Review: Black The Fall

You play as a nameless, faceless protagonist trying to break free from some sort of Soviet work camp, although the presence of sophisticated machinery indicates it’s not meant to be historically accurate. While the hammer and sickle gives the game a little more grounding than what we’ve seen in Limbo, Inside and Little Nightmares, it still offers no concrete narrative.

Video Game Review: Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two, Episode 1

There’s seemingly only one meaningful decision in the entire episode, however, with frivolous choices like “did you choose to leave Radar in charge while you were gone” getting top billing during the wrap up. This was a problem with Season One as well, which is partly why the largely self-contained structure of the Adventure Pass seemed to hold up better than the original five.

Video Game Review: Nex Machina

And that’s what Nex Machina is all about: improvement. The game is packed to the gills with challenge as each ascending difficulty adds more enemies, makes them spawn and move faster, and all the while reduces the number of continues you have. Anyone can bull their way through the first two difficulties though sheer force of will. After that, you better be ready to invest some time.

Video Game Review: Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Episode 2

Under Pressure‘s focus on character does slow the pacing down a little bit, though the episode’s sharp dialogue makes sure to move things along. Those hoping for something more epic will feel a bit of disappointment, but otherwise this dives deeper into the Guardians‘ mythology while maintaining the tone of the series.

Video Game Review: Prey

From there the game becomes one of discovery as you attempt to piece together the events that have led to mimics gaining control of the station, including their origins, the experiments and innovation taking place on Talos I, your brother’s culpability in said events and your own as well. It’s an interesting journey, one that takes a few twists and turns along the way.
